English course for adults aged 30+
Our General English 30+ course, offered in London and Canterbury, is a practical course for mature adults who want to develop their confidence in communicating in English in a variety of situations. In small groups, you will develop your fluency and accuracy with realistic role-plays and possible real-life situations, both in and outside the classroom.
Who’s it for?
This course is for participants aged 30 and over, with an average age of around 40. Learning with like-minded people from all over the world will help you feel less worried about being ‘too old’ to learn English. Our participants typically come from a range of professional and non-professional backgrounds.

Course Content
Morning Sessions: In the morning sessions you will develop general English language skills, focusing on listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary. Key areas include:
Active speaking
Listening to a range of different audio materials
Practical grammar
Expanding vocabulary
Better communication strategies
Confident and fluent reading
Better writing skills
Discussions and role-plays
Pronunciation
Afternoon Sessions: These focus on key areas of the language and specific areas of need:
Social and intercultural English
English for work and travel
Modern British culture
Media, news and views
Films and other arts
Optional self-study: Before or after your classes, you can use the Self-Study Area in your centre. There are computers, a printer and plenty of desk space available. The Self-Study Areas are available whenever our centres are open. See the opening times for our centres here.
